Shafter to get high-tech Walmart distribution center

On Thursday, Walmart announced plans to build a state-of-the-art warehousing facility at Shafter's Wonderful Industrial Park. "It's a 630-thousand-square-foot cold, cool and freezer grocery distribution center,” John Guinn, executive vice president of the Wonderful Real Estate Development Company, said. The new development will employ up to 300 people, and is a big win for the city of Shafter and its general development plan, which stresses sustainable residential and economic growth.
