
The historic Metcalf House at the Kern County Museum was rededicated on Monday, after receiving an extensive facelift. The Woman’s Club of Bakersfield chose the house as a project and donated money for new interior finishes, reconstructed porches and an exterior paint job. “Making sure everything was period, that’s the reason why the ceiling is papered,” Mike McCoy, the museum’s executive director, said. “We have the original linoleum in the kitchen – 125-year-old linoleum.
