More than $1 million invested in Bakersfield pedestrian improvement project

Construction crews have started laying the groundwork for the Sidewalk Improvements Downtown Pedestrian Connectivity project. Caltrans’ Active Transportation Program is behind the project, but the $1. 2 million funding is coming from local city funds and Senate Bill 1, according to Navdip Grewal, design engineer manager for Bakersfield’s Public Works Department.
