Man who killed California City toddler received 'appropriate sentence'

The man who killed 2-year-old Pharaoh Van Vactor in 2013 received a 25-years-to-life sentence in Kern County Superior Court on Wednesday. Mathew Kenneth Berry took Pharaoh, his girlfriend’s toddler, out to the desert and beat him brutally, Nick Lackie, deputy district attorney in the Kern County DA’s office, said. “After the defendant killed the victim, he took his body onto a bus.
