Highway in Shafter dedicated to fallen soldier

A highway dedication ceremony was held Wednesday in Shafter to honor a fallen solider. A part of Highway 43 has been dedicated toStaff Sgt. Ricardo “Ricky” Barraza, who was a squad leader in the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and was killed in the line of duty on March 18, 2006, in Ramadi, Iraq. Assemblyman Rudy Salas was on hand for the dedication ceremony. Salas authored Assembly Concurrent Resolution 70, which dedicates this highway portion to Barraza's memory.
