Former business manager defends his work as officials order audit of Taft school money

County school leaders believe something may be wrong with the finances in the Taft Union High School District and have hired an outside team to get to the bottom of it. Staff from the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office on Monday went before the board of trustees in Taft to inform them they've contracted the Fiscal Crisis & Management Assistance Team to take a hard look at the books.
