Bakersfield police: Worker at auto parts store stabs theft suspect

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – A worker at an O’Reilly Auto Parts store allegedly stabbed a possible shoplifter Thursday. Police Sgt. Charles Sherman said the stabbing victim might’ve stolen some paint and a battery charger from the store at Panama Lane and Colony Street. Sherman said the possible thief, whose name was withheld, had escaped the store and was already in his car when an employee “may have reached through the window and stabbed him” in the chest.
