Bakersfield man turning 100

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – A Bakersfield man is turning 100 Saturday. Charles “Pop” John Schmidt still lives on his own and works several days a week, according to his family. Schmidt was born in Pennsylvania but moved his family to Bakersfield after serving in World War II. A local resident for 70 years, Schmidt has owned, or been a partner, in several businesses – Pioneer Allen Cleaners (1954-1976), AAA Limousine Service (1985-1991) and Attorney’s Certified Services (1994-current).
