At Edwards Air Force Base, government employees worry over missed paychecks

TEHACHAPI, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - The partial government shutdown means no paychecks for thousands of federal employees in Kern County. 1,200 employees at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base are on furlough. That includes Kate Squires, a public affairs specialist at NASA. Her husband, Ryan, is an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration.
