
The Supreme Court upheld a policy banning some transgender people from serving in the military in a 5-to-4 ruling today. The policy prohibits transgender people from serving in the military with exceptions for those already serving openly in the military and those willing to serve under their biological sex. Stephanie Heart, a local transgender Army veteran, said the decision feels like a setback for her community. “That’s almost a roll back to ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’" Heart said.
